DAILY PROGRAM
1st day: arrival at Rome airport and meeting with the guide, departure with GT coach for a city tour . In the evening arrival at the hotel with dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: after breakfast all day dedicated to the tour of Rome the city that all the world envies us, unique and inimitable, the city of thousand and one aspects that surprises for its history going back thousands of years pointed by the most famous monuments and archaeological remains of the world. Free lunch. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
3rd day: after breakfast departure and tour of the Royal Palace of Caserta (Reggia),
wanted by Carlo III of Borbone that imagined it like Versailles. It is a luxurious structure with 120 rooms and a park that spreads out for 3 kilometres alternated with a series of fountains and the Diana and Atteone falls.
Later on we will visit Pompeii with lunch in a typical restaurant of the area and then tour of the excavations that represent one of the most desired destinations of the whole Southern Italy. Before the big eruption of the 79 AD it was an important commercial centre and today after almost 200 years it offers the chance to see what a city of that age was like, because the lava allowed the Pompeii structure to survive over the centuries until us. In the late afternoon departure to Sorrento, arrival at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
4th day: after breakfast tour of Sorrento, international town overlooking the sea and surrounded by hills; afterwards departure for the private boat trip along the magnificent Amalfi Coast with stays in Positano, Emerald Grotto (admission by ticket) and Furore, break in Amalfi with free lunch. Return by boat to Sorrento dinner and overnight stay. In the night, after dinner, you can attend the "Sorrento Musical Show" typical performance of the popular folk dance "tarantella" (optional quotation on request).
5th day: after breakfast departure to the isle of Capri (by scheduled ferry included), all along pearl of Mediterranean, dedicated to the gods with its 12 villas put up by Tiberius to holy divinities. Its crystalline sea enriched with the Faraglioni, Marina Piccola, the Piazzetta, la Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto), everything in this isle tastes of magic.
Free lunch. In the afternoon return to the Port of Naples for boarding on liner to Palermo. Dinner and overnight stay on board.
6th day: breakfast on board, arrival at Palermo in the morning, transfer for the guided tour of Monreale that offers to the visitors the beautifulness of its Cathedral, most important example of the Norman architecture in Sicily in a cluster of Arabic and Byzantine witnesses; and then Palermo defined by the Arabic "heaven of the earth" with its extraordinary remains like the Cappella Palatina defined by Guy de Maupassant "the most beautiful of the world", Piazza Vigliana, the heart of old city centre, for centuries renamed Quattro Canti but also Tempio del Sole "Sun Temple" because from this point the sun can be seen from dawn to dusk. Break fro a guided tasting in an old "focacceria". In the evening accommodation in hotel. Dinner and overnight.
7th day: after breakfast transfer to Erice wonderful synthesis of art, history and landscape that keeps intact its medieval centre harmoniously merged with the superb surrounding nature; free lunch; continuation to Selinunte, a big natural oasis immersed into the nature reserve of Belice river; the Grecian temples of Selinunte form one of the main archaeological sets of the world. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
8th day: after breakfast tour of the Valley of Temples a large archaeological area where it is possible to admire remains of temples dating back to V century b.C..
Possibility to taste typical products of the classic "scampagnata agrigentina" (a trip into the country surrounding Agrigento). Departure to Piazza Armerina, tour of the Villa del Casale a marvellous rural house built between III and IV century AD and arrived to us practically untouched. In the late afternoon transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
9th day: after breakfast guided tour of Siracusa settled along an harmonious bay. The name suggests at once its Grecian past, the tyrants and the rivalry with Athens and Carthage, and of this past the city keeps several witnesses.
Continuation to Noto, small baroque jewel placed on an upland that looks over the Asinaro Valley, covered with citrus trees. Guided tasting in an old patisserie of the centre. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
10th day: after breakfast departure to the Etna called by Pindar "Pillar of the sky", it is the highest active volcano in Europe and one of the most important of the world for productivity and eruption frequency, an incomparable setting suspended on the sea. Lunch included. Then Taormina, a wonderful terrace that looks onto the Ionio Sea at 200 metres of altitude, and continuation for a panoramic tour of the Gole di Alcantara . Dinner and overnight stay.
11th day: after breakfast transfer to the airport of Catania for the return to Rome.
